Cloquet man sentenced for deadly crash
DULUTH - A Cloquet man who allegedly drove drunk will serve 18 months for a deadly accident.
The crash in July 2008 killed Christopher Hammer, 34, and injured another man. Both were passengers in a vehicle driven by Jerry Jubie, 38.
As part of a plea deal, Jubie pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular operation resulting in death and criminal vehicular operation resulting in substantial bodily harm.
On Wednesday, a judge gave Jubie a sentence of 69 months in state prison but suspended it on the condition that Jubie serve 18 months in the Northeast Regional Corrections Center, followed by ten years probation. Jubie will be credited for time already served.
